Course description
This self-paced online course provides essential knowledge and understanding for early years practitioners in line with the updated Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) safeguarding requirements effective from September 2025.
The EYFS Statutory Framework is mandatory for all early years settings. It establishes the standards providers must meet to ensure children learn, develop well, and remain healthy and safe. From 1 September 2025, all registered early years providers must adhere to the updated framework. Regardless of your role or the type of setting, it is crucial to align with these new requirements and complete training that meets the safeguarding criteria outlined.
The course features engaging video content, interactive activities, and knowledge checks, giving you the skills and confidence to meet your safeguarding responsibilities effectively.
Please note that this online course must be completed within 90 days of commencement and includes an online assessment. Upon successful completion you will receive a Certificate of Completion.

Who should complete this course?
This course is aimed at everyone who works with early years children including:
- Childminders (sole practitioner*, practitioners*, assistants or any additional support to the setting whilst children are present e.g. catering)
- Nursery and Group settings (governor/trustee, proprietor, Designated Safeguarding Lead*, manager or supervisor, practitioner, student/apprentice, any additional support to the setting whilst children are present e.g. catering/cleaning)
- School settings– (governor/trustee, Designated Safeguarding Lead*, teacher, teaching assistant, nursery nurse, student/apprentice, or any additional support to the setting whilst children are present e.g. catering, lunchtime provision, cleaning)
*If you are the Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) in your setting or have additional safeguarding responsibilities, you should also complete the Early Years Designated Safeguarding Lead (EYDSL) course. This course provides comprehensive training on the specific responsibilities and duties of the DSL role, in line with the updated Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) safeguarding requirements effective from September 2025.
The course also incorporates the latest guidance from Keeping Children Safe in Education and Working Together to Safeguard Children, ensuring your knowledge is up to date and aligned with current statutory expectations.
